Entertainment Management Professor Selected to Attend 2018 Sociable City Summit Thursday, February 22, 2018

Sports, Arts and Entertainment Management Associate Professor Ed Traversari, M.B.A., was among a group from Pittsburgh (which included the Mayor's Office, City Council, Pittsburgh Downtown Partnership, The Cultural Trust and WYEP) selected to attend the 2018 Sociable City Summit hosted by the Responsibility Hospitality Institute Feb. 18-20 in New Orleans.

The conference focused on how cities can harness the power of the nighttime economy. It was a continuation of the 2017 Sociable City Leadership Summit Traversari attended in Austin, Texas, as part of his continuing efforts to make Pittsburgh a music city.

Traversari attended workshops titled "The Music City and Investing in Talent Development," "Has Your City Been 'Studentfied'"? "How Students Affect Nightlife," "The Future of Large Urban Nightlife Venues" and "Business District Management and Nightlife."

"I think this is a very important subject to be discussed especially since we are a Downtown campus where nightlife is important to both our students and the community. Plus, it's our hope that many of our students will be working in our Downtown music clubs, concert venues and with the artists themselves someday," Traversari said.
